My Review No Spoilers Promise
Well… after dipping my toes into romance, I think it was time to return to where I truly belong.
Back to murder.
Back to suspicious characters.
Back to questioning absolutely everybody.
And who better to bring me home than Freida McFadden?
I had absolutely no doubts going into this book because, let’s be honest, Freida has become one of those authors where I don’t even read the blurb properly anymore. If her name’s on the cover, it’s getting downloaded.
This book follows Naomi, whose seemingly ordinary life is turned upside down when her husband unexpectedly asks for a divorce. As if that isn’t bad enough, everything she thought she knew about her marriage begins to unravel, and it soon becomes clear that there is far more going on beneath the surface than anyone first realised.
Without giving anything away, what starts as a relationship drama quickly becomes something much darker.
Exactly how I like it.
Freida has such a talent for taking an everyday situation and twisting it into something completely addictive. Every chapter left me questioning people’s motives and changing my mind about what I thought was really happening.
I honestly love how easy her books are to read. The chapters fly by, the pacing never slows down and before you know it you’ve accidentally read half the book because you simply couldn’t stop.
There were several moments where I thought I’d worked everything out… and then Freida casually reminded me that I clearly hadn’t.
Again.
I should know by now not to get too confident when reading one of her books.
But I never learn.
Final verdict
Another absolutely brilliant psychological thriller from Freida McFadden and a very welcome return to the world of lies, secrets and “wait… WHAT just happened?”
If you’re looking for a fast-paced thriller that’s incredibly easy to read and impossible to put down, I’d highly recommend adding this one to your Kindle.
Five stars without hesitation.
Let’s be friends on Goodreads
I tried reading romance… it was lovely.
But it turns out my natural habitat is people lying to each other and someone ending up dead. Thanks for having me back, Freida. 📚😂🔪
