Well…
I owe you all an apology.
When I reviewed Reckless, I confidently told you this was a trilogy.
Turns out… I was wrong.
Imagine my surprise when I finished Fearless and discovered there are actually another two books connected to the series. One slots between books one and two, and another comes after this one.
WHAAATTT?!
Now, before I got too excited, I did what every sensible reader does… I looked at the reviews. They aren’t quite as glowing as the main trilogy, so for now I’m calling this the end of my journey with Paedyn.
…Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
Let’s be honest, there’s every chance I’ll add them to my TBR for the inevitable day when I desperately need to revisit this world.
Because yes…
I’m suffering from a serious book hangover.
Without spoiling anything from Powerless or Reckless, all I can say is that Fearless was everything I wanted from a final book. It picks up the story beautifully, keeps the pace moving and delivers moments that genuinely made me stop reading for a second just to process what I’d read.
There were a couple of twists where I actually had to go back and reread the page because my brain simply wasn’t keeping up. I just sat there thinking…
“Wait… WHAT?!”
Those are my favourite kinds of books.
By this point, I wasn’t just invested in the plot anymore. I cared so much about the characters that every decision, every conversation and every moment had me completely emotionally involved. Lauren Roberts has created characters that genuinely stay with you long after you’ve closed the Kindle.
One thing I’ve loved across all three books is how naturally the story progresses. Nothing has felt rushed, nothing has felt unnecessary and every book has added something meaningful to the overall journey. Looking back now, I completely understand why everyone has been recommending this series.
I also love that this trilogy managed to pull me out of my psychological thriller comfort zone. I honestly didn’t think fantasy would become something I’d look forward to reading, but this series has completely changed my mind.
Final verdict
An incredible conclusion to a series that has completely exceeded my expectations. Full of emotion, action, brilliant characters and twists that genuinely left me speechless, this is easily one of my favourite reads of the year.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to spend the next few days pretending I don’t desperately want to download books 1.5 and 3.5…
