My Review No Spoilers Promise
Well… what a way to finish a trilogy.
After racing through the first two books, I went into The Happy Family with ridiculously high expectations and somehow Daniel Hurst still managed to deliver.
By this point, I was completely invested in the story and the characters. I had spent two books second guessing everyone, changing my mind every five minutes and convincing myself I knew what was going to happen next. Spoiler alert… I did not.
What I loved about this final instalment was how everything felt bigger. The tension was higher, the emotions were stronger and the stakes felt more real than ever. There is a constant sense that things could unravel at any moment and it kept me glued to my Kindle.
The premise alone is enough to hook you. The idea of someone losing everything they love and being determined to get it back creates an immediate emotional pull. Throughout the book there is this lingering question of what people are capable of when they have nothing left to lose, and that made for some incredibly compelling reading.
One thing I have really enjoyed across this entire trilogy is how easy Daniel Hurst’s books are to read. The chapters are short, the pacing is quick and there is always a reason to read just one more chapter. The problem is that “one more chapter” somehow turns into half the book before you know it.
I also appreciated that the ending felt earned. Without giving anything away, it did not feel rushed or unrealistic. Everything came together in a satisfying way that made the journey worthwhile.
By the final few chapters, I genuinely did not want the series to end.
Final verdict
A fantastic conclusion to an addictive trilogy. Full of suspense, drama and plenty of moments that will have you questioning who you can trust, this series completely lived up to the hype for me.
If you’ve read the first two books, you absolutely need to finish the journey. And if you haven’t started the trilogy yet, what are you waiting for?
