My Review No Spoilers Promise
This is actually a re read for me, which is something I very rarely do because my TBR pile is already completely out of control. The reason I picked it up again was because I discovered there is now a TV adaptation and wanted to remind myself of the story before watching it.
What surprised me most was just how much I enjoyed it all over again.
Once I got back into the story, I remembered exactly why I loved this book the first time around. It has that perfect balance of mystery, suspense and emotion that keeps you turning the pages without even realising how much time has passed.
The story pulls you in almost immediately and keeps you questioning everything. Every time I thought I had worked something out, another piece of information would appear and send me back to square one. I love books that make you feel clever one minute and completely clueless the next, and this does exactly that.
What I particularly enjoyed was that the suspense is not built on endless twists for the sake of twists. Instead, the story unfolds steadily, revealing just enough information to keep you hooked whilst constantly making you question what is really going on. The relationships between the characters add an emotional depth that makes you genuinely care about the outcome.
Even knowing the overall story from my first read, I still found myself completely invested. That, to me, is the sign of a great book.
Final verdict
A brilliant suspense novel that keeps you guessing throughout and proves just as enjoyable the second time around. If you enjoy mysteries that focus on both the characters and the secrets they’re hiding, this is definitely worth picking up.
I cannot wait to move on to the second book in the series and see where the story goes next.

Apparently I now reread books for research purposes… definitely not because I was looking for an excuse to avoid my ever growing TBR 📚👀
