My Review No Spoilers Promise

This is one of those reviews I wish I was writing differently because I really wanted to love this book. The premise sounded right up my street and I went into it fully expecting to be hooked. Sadly, it just did not happen for me.

I do not know if it was my mood, the timing, or simply the book itself, but I struggled to get into this from the start. I kept waiting for the moment where everything would click and I would suddenly be invested, but that moment never quite arrived. Instead, it felt like a bit of a slog to keep pressing play.

It is not badly written and the idea behind the story is interesting, which almost made it more frustrating. I could see the potential and really wanted to connect with it, but I never fully felt pulled into the story or the characters. As an audiobook especially, it felt long and I found my attention drifting more than I would have liked.

Finishing it felt more like determination than excitement, which is never the feeling you want when listening to a thriller.

Final verdict
This might work better for readers who enjoy a slower, more gradual build, but unfortunately it just did not click with me despite really wanting it to.
