My Review (No Spoilers, Just Pure Enthusiasm)

I read The Cleaner on my Kindle and overall yes, I did really enjoy it. This is one of those books where you’re intrigued from early on and you know there’s more going on beneath the surface… you’re just not quite sure what yet.

That said, this book definitely made me work for it. The story is told from different points of view, and there are constant name changes happening, which at times had me pausing like, “Wait, who are we now?” It occasionally felt a bit confusing, and there were moments where the pacing dragged just enough that I had to re-orient myself before continuing.

BUT. And this is a big but.

I did not see the twist coming. At all. Zero anticipation. No notes. When it hit, it made the slower sections feel worth it and instantly bumped my rating up. I love when a book can genuinely surprise me, and The Cleaner absolutely delivered there.

Final verdict:
A gripping, layered thriller that maybe could’ve been a little tighter but still packs a punch where it counts. If you don’t mind multiple perspectives and a bit of mental gymnastics, this one is worth the ride. That ending? Deserved those 4 stars.
