My Review (Still No Spoilers, Still Respectful)
First of all, let’s address the elephant in the room: I DID NOT KNOW THIS BOOK EXISTED.
Imagine my shock, joy, and immediate disbelief when I realised this was book two in the series. I was thrilled.
This book fully owned my schedule. I read it on my Kindle through Kindle Unlimited, and it reached the elite status of “I can’t wait to get into bed just to read.” I was even waking up at 6:30am to sneak in chapters before starting my day. That’s how you know a book has you in a chokehold.
From the first page, The Devil You Know pulls you right back into the chaos and refuses to let go. Unlike McFadden’s darker thrillers, this story leans more into rom-com territory, witty, emotional, and full of workplace drama, with just enough tension to keep things interesting.
The pacing is immaculate. I kept telling myself, “Just one more chapter”—which is a lie we all tell and never mean. The tension builds beautifully, and the twists? Just what we expect from Freida
Why 5 stars? Because this book made me rearrange my life around it. No notes. No crumbs. Just vibes, suspense, and a severe lack of sleep and I loved every second.
Final verdict:
If you liked The Devil Wears Scrubs, you need this sequel. If you haven’t read the first book yet, stop what you’re doing and start there. And if you value sleep? Maybe don’t start this on a work night. You’ve been warned.
